resiliency study?, just lower the lake!
Need help...IJC can lower the lake level but won't...personal residental loss carastrophic...
We have already lowered the lake to extremely lower than normal, it is unfortunate that residents in some regions have been fooled into thinking that these lower LO levels are normal and now the normal levels of higher level are above normal. Just not so.

Water Level Update - April 6, 2018

The April monthly forecast was released this morning by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and it reveals good news. The forecasted high level of the water in June is 246.5, a foot below flood stage and 2.5 feet below last year's high. Even a very wet spring only gets us to 247.3. Wayne County Emergency Management spoke with the National Weather Service this morning and they confirmed they do not see any precipitation patterns that approach what we had last year. So it looks like we are in for a great summer.

Planning continues -- we expect delivery of the NYS pumps next week. We already have 100,000 sandbags on hand to fill if needed. For those that have plastic covered sandbags in your yards, we ask that you leave them for a few more weeks. Any unwrapped sandbags on seawalls can come down. The sand can be spread in yards or put into the bay. The bags should go into the trash.

We continue to meet with Wayne County Emergency Management and the impacted towns and villages. We will have another update later this month. Let's all plan on a hot, fun summer.
